Renovations at the Port Royal Golf Courses
If you haven’t been paying attention, you might have missed the fact that the Port Royal Golf Courses have changed ownership. The new managers have been quietly making improvements that all seem to be for the better. Heritage Golf Group, a San Diego based golf course ownership and management company, purchased the three Port Royal golf courses from American Golf two years ago this January.
“Although the transition has been a lot of hard work,” according to Ray Dznowski Director of Operations, “we are almost there. Our focus at Heritage Golf is on the golf experience and to try to give our golfers the best experience possible from the time they make the reservation until they are on the way back home.”
“It all starts with our new reservation system that is completely computerized linking all of our area courses in real time. We can find exactly the best time available instantly on any one of our courses, making booking a tee time a very easy and pleasant experience.”
“For Heritage the golf course playing conditions are the number one priority. We devote most of our resources to golf conditions because we know that is what our customers want. In the past two years we have invested heavily in golf course maintenance practices and equipment to improve our playing conditions. The courses are in the absolute best condition ever.”
The Port Royal Pro Shop recently underwent a complete renovation, and the entire shop was redesigned. Traffic patterns were changed and the reception desk was rebuilt. Now everything looks brand new, flows nicely and there is much more room to display merchandise.
The latest project is to build a new clubhouse. The old one was taken down to the foundation a couple of months ago and work on the new building is progressing very well. Completion is expected in July of 2007. The clubhouse will have a private member dining area, an area for resort guests and a covered outside barbeque area which will be used to serve tournaments and outings. This four million dollar project will be highlight of our Port Royal transition.
It sounds to me like golf in Port Royal is definitely getting better. If you haven’t played the Port Royal courses lately, this spring will is the time to give them a try and see first hand all the improvements made by the Heritage Golf Group. You can make your reservations by calling 843 681-1700.
