Palmetto Dunes Golf Offers High Tech Amenities
In looking for ways to enhance the golf experience here on Hilton Head Island, the Palmetto Dunes Golf Resort has introduced two new “high tech” amenities at their three island golf courses: air conditioning on the golf carts and an individual, futuristic stand up golf transporter.
“The response from our golfers has been outstanding,” according to Clark Sinclair, Head Golf Professional. “Who doesn’t want to be cooler on those hot summer days? And everyone who has tried our golf transporter agrees that it is a lot of fun.”
The Coolwell G2 is an air conditioning unit that is mounted on each golf cart. It is a true air conditioner that works by blowing dry air over a block of ice and directing it through a tube to the riders on the golf car, not only cooling the air but reducing the humidity as well. The system is easily adjustable and shuts itself off when you get off the seat. The Coolwell system is easily switched over to become a heater for those cool winter afternoons.
The Segway Golf Transporter is also a new addition at the Palmetto Dunes courses. This is one you must try. It is a 2 wheel platform that is operated while standing. It is computer driven and gyroscopically balanced. The rider goes forward or back by simply leaning in the direction desired. It turns right or left by simply turning the steering grip. The Segway can travel more than 10 miles per hour and is designed to go over all types of terrain, so it may even help in speeding up the pace of play.
