That soundtrack, unmistakably smooth and nostalgic, is beach music. Not to be confused with surf rock or tropical party anthems, beach music is a uniquely Southern form of rhythm and blues that found its cultural home along the Carolina coast.

If the water is your passion, Hampton Lake is the place to be. Life in this community is centered around the 227-acre lake that is home to an array of native flora and fauna. With 15 miles of shoreline and seven miles of navigable water, Hampton Lake is heaven for kayakers, boaters and fishing enthusiasts.
Kick off the fall season with BlufftemberFest 2025! Oyster Factory Park is where you want to be for food, family, friends and fun from 3-8PM on September 27, 2025. Support local artists and find that one-of-a-kind gift at the arts and crafts fair. Enjoy a variety of offerings from the food court and satisfy your thirst at the Beer Garden or Wine Bar (cash only). Chillakaya, The Rick Nelson Band and a special guest will be providing the day’s entertainment.
In 1975 4,053 acres of tidal creek, salt marsh, freshwater ponds, open fields and maritime forest located between the South Carolina mainland and Hilton Head Island were donated to the government and Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge was established to provide a nature and forest preserve for aesthetic and conservation purposes. The refuge is comprised of several islands and small hammocks, with Pinckney Island being the largest.
Who doesn’t love to celebrate the 4th by watching a fireworks display? Here in the Lowcountry, you’ll have to decide where you want to celebrate – Hilton Head Island? Bluffton? Beaufort? To make your choice just a little more difficult, you can throw Savannah and Tybee Island, GA in the mix.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC
Looking for an activity that everyone can enjoy? Maybe you need to get a little crabby! Crabbing in the Lowcountry is a great experience for the whole family. Unlike many other adventures, crabbing is relatively cheap and doesn’t require much of a skill set.
An annual tradition for over 40 years, Bluffton Mayfest ushers in the Lowcountry summer season each Saturday before Mother’s Day. This year’s event takes place on May 10, 2025, 10 AM – 5 PM. Most events will be held at Martin Family Park, Dubois Park, the Heyward House and Bridge Street.
