There’s a certain magic to the Lowcountry coastline—salt on the breeze, pluff mud in the air, and a soundtrack that drifts from beachside bars and summer festivals. That soundtrack, unmistakably smooth and nostalgic, is beach music. Not to be confused with surf rock or tropical party anthems, beach music is a uniquely Southern form of rhythm and blues that found its cultural home along the Carolina coast.

Conveniently located to all that Hilton Head Island has to offer, Hilton Head Plantation is a dynamic island community comprised of smaller neighborhoods connected with over seven miles of trails within its 4,000 acres. Located on the Port Royal Sound and the Intercoastal Waterway, extraordinary water views encompass Hilton Head Plantation. Home styles range from traditional to modern, with a full range of price points for single family homes and villas.
With an eclectic flair, the neighborhoods of North Forest Beach and South Forest Beach are an engaging blend of old and new. Grand beach front homes and cozy cottages combine to create an appealing mix of style giving Forest Beach a charming, quirky island feel. The name Forest Beach says it all. In this neighborhood, it’s all about the sun, the sand and the sea.
In 1975 4,053 acres of tidal creek, salt marsh, freshwater ponds, open fields and maritime forest located between the South Carolina mainland and Hilton Head Island were donated to the government and Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge was established to provide a nature and forest preserve for aesthetic and conservation purposes. The refuge is comprised of several islands and small hammocks, with Pinckney Island being the largest.
Who doesn’t love to celebrate the 4th by watching a fireworks display? Here in the Lowcountry, you’ll have to decide where you want to celebrate – Hilton Head Island? Bluffton? Beaufort? To make your choice just a little more difficult, you can throw Savannah and Tybee Island, GA in the mix.

Here in the Lowcountry there are three farmers markets. Since they take place on different days you don’t have to choose. You can go to all three! Here’s the rundown on each one.
